Oxfordshire Local Skills Improvement Plan
The Oxfordshire LSIP, led by the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce and funded by the Department for Education, is an employer-led initiative that brings together businesses, education providers and local partners to address workforce and skills challenges across Oxfordshire. Employers are encouraged to shape training provision and workforce development priorities to ensure local skills programmes meet real labour market needs.
For adult social care, the Oxfordshire LSIP helps ensure that local colleges, training providers and workforce programmes develop learning opportunities that respond to the sector's workforce challenges. Its role is strategic rather than operational. It helps influence skills provision rather than directly delivering recruitment programmes.
Through the LSIP approach, adult social care providers can:
- Influence local training and qualification provision
- Highlight workforce shortages and recruitment challenges
- Help shape apprenticeship and vocational training opportunities
- Support the development of local workforce pipelines
- Strengthen collaboration between employers, education providers and local partners
Adult social care continues to face challenges around recruitment, retention, workforce development and career progression. The Oxfordshire LSIP provides a mechanism for care providers to communicate these needs directly into local skills planning, helping ensure that future education and training investment supports the adult social care workforce.
