Get Oxfordshire Working
Get Oxfordshire Working is Oxfordshire's local version of the Government's Get Britain Working agenda, a White Paper published in 2024. Get Oxfordshire Working is a county-wide partnership programme led by Oxfordshire County Council, working with Jobcentre Plus, Thames Valley Integrated Care Board, employers, education providers and other stakeholders to tackle economic inactivity and help more people into sustainable employment.
The programme aims to:
- Reduce economic inactivity
- Help people facing barriers to employment
- Support progression into better work
- Address local labour and skills shortages
- Take a "whole-system" approach that links employment, health, education and economic development
For adult social care providers, Get Oxfordshire Working is potentially important, because it focuses on groups that could become part of the future care workforce, including:
- Carers and former carers
- People with disabilities or health conditions
- Care leavers
- Refugees and resettled communities
- Older workers
- People returning to work after periods of inactivity
The programme also recognises that Oxfordshire faces workforce shortages in key sectors, including health and care.
